Volunteering has been a meaningful part of my life. -Current Housewarming Volunteer at RMH–Oak Street

Be a part of the House that Love Built

When you volunteer, you have an immediate impact on families with seriously ill or injured children.

Our faithful force of volunteers make the House a home for families staying with us. We have an opportunity that's perfect for you.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Ronald McDonald House!

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

You can make a world of difference in the life of a kid or family. Individual volunteers make the House a home as they bring their individual skills and talents to work. We also have fun opportunities at our special events.
Please note: We currently have volunteer opportunities at our Oak Street in Minneapolis and Children's MN in Minneapolis locations only.

Group Volunteer Opportunities

Work teams, book clubs, faith groups. There is strength in numbers. We have an opportunity for your group to come together and volunteer with us. We'd love to have you!

Cooks for Kids

Our #1 service.
Groups sponsor, prepare, and serve meals to families at our five MN locations every day of the year.

We have a variety of Cooks for Kids options available at this time. Visit our Cooks for Kids page for details.

Special Event Volunteers

Help raise funds and awareness for the House.

Special events raise funds while building awareness of our programs. Whether at our signature events or a community fundraiser, volunteers play a key role in making the day a success.

Youth & At-Home Opportunities

Get creative with the kids at home

Groups of all sizes and ages can support the House that Love Built. Consider hosting a fundraiser or Wish List drive to bring in high-need items for the House (fun ideas here!). Groups can also gather offsite to assemble helpful kits for RMH families. All items go to immediate use and help us continue to be here for families with seriously sick or injured kids.

Birthday Party

Craft a celebration for the kids at the House.

Volunteer groups of 2-4 individuals are invited to plan a monthly birthday party at Ronald McDonald House on Oak Street. 5pm-6pm on the first Thursday of each month. Your group would plan 1-3 fun kid-friendly activities and provide cake (or alternate dessert), candles, beverages, and decorations. A recommended number of servings will be provided before your date. Groups are welcome to arrive as early as 4pm to set up.

Book Club

Reading with kids and pizza. What's not to love?

Groups of two or more. The second Friday of each month from 11:00am – 1:00pm. We will select books based upon each child’s reading level, interests, etc. You will read books with the kids and stay for a pizza party for lunch. Groups can order the pizza from wherever they’d like or make a $200 financial donation to RMH, and we’ll care for ordering. Pizza will be served to all families eating lunch at the House that day. Number of servings will be provided before your date.

Lend-A-Hand

When volunteer groups of 3-15 tackle projects for the House, the impact is immediate and so appreciated.

Light assembly, landscaping or gardening, cleaning, disinfecting, organizing, preparing for fundraisers and events, preparing freezer meals. Projects are scheduled in 1–2-hour shifts on Monday – Friday between 10am and 4pm. Please note that all on-site volunteers must be at least 14 years old and vaccinated for covid-19 as well as the annual flu.

We hope you volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House!
